This is beyond difficult for me. My friend and brother has passed. During one of our last conversations he told me he would one day be the president of Morehouse and he was well on his way. Myron you will be missed greatly.

Our Triangle Morehouse Club (NC) chapter president, Myron Burney ’98, died tragically Monday morning, July 28, 2014, in a car wreck.
Originally from Chadbourn, NC, Burney earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga. and a master’s degree in liberal studies from N.C. State University.
Most recently Burney had been promoted to the position of Assistant Vice Chancellor at Elizabeth City State University.
Recent news articles highlight the announcement of his new position, the progress he was making in his position, and the next day, reporting of the tragic, life-taking event.
A memorial service in honor of Myron on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 6:15 pm, at Wake Chapel Church, located at 3805 Tarheel Club Rd, Raleigh NC 27604. Pastor J.J. Wilkins, Jr. is the senior pastor.
A funeral service will be held the following day, on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 1:00 pm, at First Missionary Baptist Church, located at 505 S. Wilkes St., in Chadbourn, NC 28431.
Thanks to Bro. Keith Caldwell’s suggestion, we are collecting funds to help Myron’s widow ahead of Friday’s services, to help with their immediate needs. There may also be other funds collected to start a scholarship fund.
