It is with great sadness that Mr. Obnoxious has to report that a friend of ours has been arrested. Details are still very vague right now, but Juanita Bynum has been arrested and is being held without bond as of this time in Dallas, TX.
As many of you know, I was first to break the story of Juanita Bynum domestic violence victimization by her then husband, Bishop Thomas Wesley Weeks,. Weeks later pleaded guilty, and the pair have since they have divorced.
Go to the website above for Dallas Texas Jail, and enter her information and you will see, that she was arrested on yesterday in Dallas, Texas for a Capias Warrant. A Capias Warrant is issued to compel someone to do something. These warrants are usually issued for a person who owes money based on a court judgment or who fails to appear for a civil hearing. Capias warrants are issued by the civil courts, so they are different from criminal arrest warrants — but that doesn’t mean you can’t wind up in jail on a capias arrest warrant.
It seems that it was civil case filed against her by a promotor named Al Wash. Al Wash says he paid Juanita Bynum a $125,000 advance to star in a stage play, but she didn’t participate.. Word is, he sued her and won. The civil court judgment against Juanita specified that she was to make payments until the judgement was fulfilled. However, she failed to make those payments and failed to appear before the court; therefore, a warrant was issued for her arrest.
My guess is that Juanita did not have the money to reimburse Mr. Wash, make the court ordered payments, nor come up with the total before being arrested. I’m told by someone in the legal community, this all could have been avoided had she had an attorney pay the monies and represent her before a judge. More to come on this story.
