Well, here is another serious example of the very serious issue we have in America centered around race and race relations.
It’s a white Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver named Riley Cooper who was caught on camera defiantly saying he would “fight every NI*GER here!”
And yes,, he’s doing his best to atone for his discretion, but unfortunately 25-year-old Cooper can’t take it back.
You’re no doubt wondering when and where this happened. It was at a concert for country artist Kenny Chesney on June 9 in Philadelphia. After having some kind altercation with a security guard, Cooper turned to the camera and said, “I will jump that fence and fight every n*gger here.”
Of course now, after the video, which first appeared on CrossingBroad.com, has gone viral all over the internet, Cooper is apologizing to anyone who’ll listen for his ill chosen words.
“I am so ashamed and disgusted with myself. I want to apologize.”
“I have been offensive. I have apologized to my coach, to (team owner) Jeffrey Lurie, to Howie Roseman and to my teammates. I owe an apology to the fans and to this community. I am so ashamed, but there are no excuses. What I did was wrong and I will accept the consequences.”
The apology seems to working as far as some of his teammates including quarterback Michael Vick.
“As a teammate, I forgave him. As a team, we forgave him,” says Vick.
But forgiveness is not so easy for some.
Michael Vick’s brother Marcus tweeted that he’s putting a thousand dollar bounty on Cooper’s head. Vick distanced himself from his brother’s comments, calling for cooler heads to prevail.
“I don’t agree with what my brother is saying. Riley is still my teammate, and he just stood in front of us as a man and apologized for what he said. My brother has to, you know, not show a certain level of ignorance himself,” says Vick.
Riley Cooper was fined, but he would only say it was a “sizeable amount.” Sources are now telling FOX 29 (MyFoxPhilly) news that the Eagles organization has contacted the DA’s office to find out some charitable organization that Cooper can donate to.
Forget a donation remove him from the team!
